Default Mustang Rust

It all started when I began my disc brake swap. As I pulled apart the brakes I decided I might as well do the suspension while I was at it after seeing all the rubber just about gone. Went to pull apart the suspension and saw more evidence of rust than I originally thought. Decided to disassemble the front end to see what is really going on and this is what I found.....http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...angRust009.jpghttp://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...angRust008.jpghttp://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...angRust007.jpghttp://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...angRust005.jpghttp://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...angRust004.jpghttp://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...angRust003.jpghttp://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...angRust001.jpg]

I knew when I bought the car I have rust in the floorpans and trunk, trying to decide where to go from here. I do have another rolling chassis that is solid, the problem with it is that someone replaced the roof and did a crappy welding job along with welding on a roof that has rust damage (??)

Looks like new floor pans and torque boxes, but other than that I can't tell what else is needed from the pic. How about the frame rails and firewall?

The pics are all in front of the firewall. Firewall has one bad area that may patch. My donor is in solid shape in the frame rails and sheet metal except for one panel. The reason I am considering doing a front clip is then I can exchange the frame rails and all the sheet metal. The thing that scares me the most is the steering geometry. I think my next step will be to tear apart the interior and see what is really going on before I dump a bunch of time and money in the front.

Also looks like you need to replace the passenger side inner fender apron, frame rail, and radiator support. This is a pretty common rust area due to a leaking battery. I have recently done this on my '65. It wasn't too bad of a job. The worst part is drilling out the 30+ spot welds & cutting & welding on the new frame rail.

I crawled under and started tapping with a hammer. Rear frame rails seem solid so I hope the cancer is only in the front. The positive is; after a new front end floor pan and interior I will have a restored Mustang!
