Insurance claim help !!
u never have to accept what the insurance company offers u! they might even try to tell u its only worth 700$ and try and total it! cause its a 1968 and it has depreciated since then[:'(] but u know better! u should always have an appraisal done ever year to make sure u dont get screw over in cases like this!
He took them to court about it and the courts made them them paint the entire car because it was so old it was a classic and the courts basicly said they couldent do a half *** job becuase the paint couldent be matched what i would do is get letters from paint dealerships that it cant be matched than take it to the courts thats what happened with us we did it it worked out 110% they cant do a half *** job on your ride, good luck to you
Edit: yes they said they would only paint the fenders and the hood.

So they originally said no to the complete paint job, but then he sued them and they painted it?? Did it make it to court or did the threat of the lawsuit make them paint it??

When I bought the car, he had an appraisal done on it and it said it was appraised at 12,500. So when I went to insure it, I told him I wanted to cover it for what i paid, which was 7800. My agent told me that they had to insure it for the appraised amount, or I could go get another appraiseal done saying it was worth less. So they have the amount, but if I let them do only half the car, won't that drop it's value??
From my understanding, it is the responsibility of the insurance company to see that you are "made whole" after a loss - that's what you pay insurance for. Since you are driving a classic vehicle, and especially since the incident was NOT your fault, I see no reason why they would be able to deny you a paint job. Granted, it might take a judicial ruling to get them to cough up the money, but I would bet that you are indeed legally entitled to it. Just make sure you are well prepared before walking in there - get tons of photos and maybe even another estimate, etc.
Just remember the key word - "made whole". Insurance agents hate having that word thrown in their face

It wasn't an insurance job he just did some bodywork and sprayed the rear instead of the whole car. I think he spent like $2000 but it looks like half the car is washed or something. I bet you could buff the gloss down or something but I'm not a paint expert...
I was just posting it as an FYI incase you were thinking about just repainting the front

Another option: get outrageous estimates for replacing the damaged parts and fund the paint job via that. I've known a few people who've gone that route when dealing with a$$hole insurance companies...
But I'd use that as a worst-case scenario. I'd say you're due a new paint job, it's just a matter of if they want to do it the easy way or the hard way (court).
