Insurance claim help !!
Hi Guys, I was putting gas in my car when a teen driver backed up into the front of my 68 coupe. He did enough damage to get me an estimate for $3800. My problem is that they have to paint the new fender, hood and other fender from the hood being pushed over into it. All 3 body shops said they don't think they will be able to match the gloss of the back of the car because the color is a deep purple from ford in 92 or 93. What can I do?? Do I just get stuck with a half *** job. Any input would be appreciated.
I asked the body shops the same question, and they all said there is no way the ins comp would pay to have the whole car painted. I thought the same thing, it's not my fault they can't match it. But they said it can't be BETTER than it was before. My paint jkob was by no means perfect but at least it all matched.
Hi Soaring...They said the paint wouldn't be the problem, but the gloss of the new vs the remaining old paint. They all said they didn't want to rip my paint job, but it was not an expensive one for sure! He put in the quote to try and buff the remaining half to try and bring it closer, but stated on the quote he didn't think it would be very close.
The guy down the street has a fastback that he recently had the rear end resprayed - you're right the gloss on the rear vs. the front is definitely noticeable, just looks like half the car isn't washed or something. I'd talk to you insurance company since it might be considered a "classic" depending on your premium they might go the extra mile. I have a friend w/ one of those chameleon paint jobs that was rear ended and they did have to respray the entire car b/c it was impossible to do just one section...
Good luck and let us know what happens
Good luck and let us know what happens
When my moms van was hit the body shop told her that the back doors were painted the wrong color. The Idiots painted the rest of the van the wrong color and didnt bother to paint the back doors.
Same thing happened to my dad in his 70 chevelle the insurance company said they wouldent paint tho whole vehicle being that it was a classic and the piant couldent be matched he took them to court and they insurance company had to pay for the whole paint job of the vehicle becuase it was a classic and the paint had faded over the years and it couldent be matched even though the car has a nice paint job the car will never be the same again becuase it was wrecked which ruined the value of the ss chevelle hope you get what you deserve a new friggin paint job good luck
So they originally said no to the complete paint job, but then he sued them and they painted it?? Did it make it to court or did the threat of the lawsuit make them paint it??
