Surely it's not his insurnace company that will pay as the crash was not his fault the kids insurance company will pay granted through his insurance, I say make a lot of noise, say that insurance is to restore the car to the orginal condition pre-crash and if they will not and you can't afford legal redres get a vinyl transfer on the car that say "See the different paint colours on my car that's because (insert name) insurance is worthless" or along the same lines!!!

Good for the insurance company not for you they will try and screw you down, I would just say to the body shops you went quote me the full respray and don't give those half arsed quotes in. It's not the bodyshop how decide what work to do it's the insurance people.

They have to pay to bring your car up to where it was before the accident. If the paint won't match, get an estimate that does simply that, bring your car up to where it was before the wreck. That is what you are owed. Any less and I'd see them in court.

I had the same problem. While at Crusin The Coast I was tagged in the LH rear quater by a Jeep crossing the untersection while I was driving at 50 mph. He wasted my rear quarter, This was on my 1961 Fairlane, It was black suede with red wheels. The paint had been on for three years. The adjuster saw it as primer. There was no way to match in this situation. They paid $850 to reapir the quater and that was it. $1300 later for me the car was repainted back to the black suede again. I got screwed. Good luck and maybe better for you.
