im not to this point in my restoration yet...but.. is there some kinda kit i can use to add a shaker scoop?

you might have to shim it due to engine hieght...the only Mustang engines to get a shaker were the BOSS 302, the 351W and C and the FE's

You absolutely must have a shaker hood to add this. You don't just punch a hole in your current hood.

What I mean is, if you look at the underside of your non-shaker hood, there should be no reinforcements/other material in the area that you would cut-out the hole for the shaker assembly. All you find is flat metal that is the actual hood. Simply measure, cut (albeit, VERY CAREFULLY), and assemble (yeah - don't we wish it was that easy...).

You don't need a new hood but you will have to cut a hole in the hood you have. The trick is where to cut the hole. It would be best to try to to find a template to do it right. You could do it by eye but it would be risky. There is also a trim ring that installs on the hood. I'm not sure if that is included in the Mustang Plus shaker.
