Default Are they pulling my chain?

On my way home a couple of days ago my speedo started to flip out and i heard a tap on the transmission. The tap stopped and the speedo quit working. But then I heard a winding noise. (SP? Like you wind up a clock?) Anyways, they say the speedo cabe is broken and the noise is coming from the rear end. Now the noise "from the rear end" never happened.b4The transmission is under warrenty, but the cable isnt included. Is there any chance they are bsing me about the noise coming from the rear end and its really coming from the tranny, but they just dont want to admit it? Help. Thanks.

About the cable probably not. Rearends tend to make a whine noise.

Errr....wait scratch my last post. Theyre probably right about the cable, and wrong about the rear end.
