Default 66' window linkage problem

I'm getting the Stang ready for two car shows this coming Saturday. Wouldn't you know it, I'm cranking up the passenger window, when BANG, something breaks and then I hear parts falling to the bottom of the door. I took the panel off and found a metal pin (7/16 diameter maybe, with a center opening to mount a spring) broken off at its base. I ordered a new regulator? and a new scissors assembly? which are due to arrive Friday (tomorrow). I hope one of these are the parts I need.

Does anyone know a lot about the innards of a 66' door? Are there tricks or pitfalls to watch out for when I try to put this thing back together? I'm anticipating having to pull the driver's panel off as well, so I can see how it's supposed to go back together, but (as always) I'll feel the pressure of getting it together before the 8am show time for the show.

Why can' t things ever go smoothly before a car show??? Why does it have to break JUST BEFORE A SHOW? Stagefright? After all it's only 40 years old. I'm 43 and I'M not breaking down . . . . . yet.

it is not hard to replace, yet it is hard to line up. I have done it many times and I would talk to a window guy...it should be an hour job

just try to mirror the driver side as well as possible. i think ive heard it can be a pain though. just setr aside plenty of time because you might have to make adjustments on the window track so its show quality. i think mustang monthly has a door/window rebuild article. id check them out. best of luck.

I checked out the Mustang Monthly article, and it's EXACTLY what I was looking for. It has wonderful pictures and describes how to adjust the window. SHould make things much easier.
