Since I no longer have a power steering pump I need a belt that just runs to the huge pulley below the fan right?

How do I go about sizing a new belt for that?

Here's the old setup, but now the fan and power steering pump are gone (the belt went from main pulley --> PS pump ---> fan)...

Man, you are making this harder than it has to be.

Have a look at your pic. The groove on the fan pulley sits closer to the engine than the alt. pulley by a belt width plus a little bit. Take the fan pulley to your nearest stockist (I would go to a wrecking yard specialising in Fords first) and get one that is not quite so deep...that is, if you put them flat on a table along side each other, the one you want is about an inch shorter than the one youve got. It doesnt have to be specifically for a 289 or 302, makes no difference.
