first of all check you lower hose make sure it is not collapsing and second did you intsall a new thermostat i would also look into a larger radiator or a or a nice aluminum one and check your fan also and you might want to add a transmission cooler to use in tandem with your rafiator

also, a fan shroud and a 5 blade factory fan will help out...DO NOT use a flex fan, they go flat

Add one thing at a time until the problem is fixed. Start with a new 3-4 row radiator.

Just bend the needle on your temp gage til it reads the right temperature.

Define "to hot"

If you are not boiling over it is most likely not "to hot"

The thermostat should be at least 180---It's not a long way from there to boiling. It should have a 15# cap and a 50/50 antifreese mix which raises the boiling point to 255+

Yeah, that's close to being right. With a 50/50 mix the boiling point is 223F, and with a 70/30 mix the boiling point is 235F, and the extra two pounds on the cap will also raise it a tad, so your figures are close, but a little high. Ford recommends the 13 lb. cap, and for good reason. Too much pressure will blow radiators and hoses. There should never be a need to run an engine that hot though. Mine runs in the 190 range most of the summer, and that is where these old engines were designed to run their best.
