Sometimes a C4 will shift funny after a fluid change. Its not a bad idea, just something to be aware of. Its also a good idea to change manual lube as well. I dont ever worry about mileage, since I am rebuilding or swapping stuff constantly, but in VoTech class they said between 70k and 100k is a good time to change it.

Well you will have to replace the trans sooner or later at this point. I would just leave it in there and rebuild it when the time comes.

Go ahead and change the gear lube in the rear though. Use 75W90 synthetic.

just FYI trans fluid and filter should be changed between 15,000 and 30,000 depending on the type of driving you do. If you do change it put some slick 50 high mileage in it, I put it in my ranger when the trans. was acting up It cleared up the sliping and it worked like it did when new. but it do blow up about 50,000 miles later. It was enough to make a beliver out of me. If you do use it pour it in the pan before you put the pan back on the trans. That stuff is thicker then Molasses in feburary.

i change my trans fluid, and filter every 15k miles in both my mustangs. both 5 speed. for automatic i do 30k, and i know you can definitely get away with at least 30k on a manual, but i'm hard on the clutch, and obsessive.
