Its my cousin's idea and my cousin's mustang. it would be different to say the least and it would be friggin sweet to see a mach 1 roll out some smoke anywhere it goes

"dont you know youre supposed to put GAS in that car?"
"somebody told me diesel would make it run better )

That isnt a good enough reason to jack up a fastback. Now if you have visions of those 4x4 extended cab 1 ton duallys runnin mid-low 11s in your mind, well that is understandable. Imagine droppin 4000lbs off the vehicle and see what it would do.

But the idea of that is cost prohibitive, and would only work if you could get it to hook. And with that much torque at the rear wheels, and that much weight over the fronts, it wont be goin anywhere quickly.

An Olds diesel with a turbo would be a better swap, since they are about the same size as a 350/403 Olds, but massively heavy and they have head gasket issues. Not to mention the need to graft on a completely new front end just to fit it.

Just drop in a Cleveland, 429/460/514, or a built Windsor and forget the ideas of droppin a 2000lb engine and trans into a car that weighs 2000 with no engine or trans.

Or hack up a car that could be worth something and make a hideous mess for someone else to clean up.. I have pics of those if you need inspiration to royaly screw up a vehicle...

Go for it dude. Powerstroke stang would be awsome. So much hp easily. They have chips that get 100hp and 100lbs of torque. DO IT!!

What would it take (besides Mustang II front end and custom motor mounts) to put a 7.3 powerstroke in a 69 Mach 1?

I dont care what you think about me doing it, i just wanna know what i need to do
More money, time and effort than it would be worth. Save yourself the time and just mount the mustang body on the 3/4 ton truck frame. Be sure to paint something clever on the side of it like, "I GOT YOUR ELEANOR", or "Bumble Stang" in some cool sixties font.

Good luck, and keep us posted with pictures... lots and lots of them!!!
