Just kidding. Most likely, the odometer has rolled over one or two times. But it doesn't really matter in my opinion... $6k (or less) sounds like a great price for that car. As a rough estimate, if the outside looks as good as it does - I'd guess the mechanical side was well taken care of too.
Have you heard it run/driven it yet?

Did she drive it into town for groceries or just to go to church?

Get her to let you start it up and run around the block with it, then listen to the engine. You will be able to tell the approximate mileage just by listening to the engine and checking the tailpipe.
ive yet to hear the engine or see it, i work monday-friday 4-9:30ish and well yeah a test drive on a week nights out of the question. I plan to call her tomorrow after i get out of school and make an arrangement to drive/hear/search it completely over. Ive never driven one...so what are some signs i should be looking for...sorry im new with older cars.
crappy drum brakes, any smoke coming out of the exhaust (and note what color), suspension noise (you'll get some good squeaking if your leafs are rusted), check the gas tank filler neck on the inside of the trunk for leaks, start off slow and see if you get a bouncy speedo needle (usually a bad speedo cable if it bounces)....those are just a few things
also, if the seller will let you, try to pull back some of the carpet at the firewall, under the dash, and check for any rust in the floor pans.
