HELP ASAP
I asked this question on another thread but didnt get a real answer so here goes again...where do you bolt the engine hoist to the block on an I6? as soo as i get an answer its coming out...any help at all would be nice
If you're taking it out to rebuild or replace, I would use a head bolt on each end of the head. On some GM in line six's, they use to have a bracket on each end but, I don't think Ford did that.
You have two possibilities. If you are not pulling the engine with the tranny attached, you get a lift plate that bolts to the carb flange. Jegs has them. If you are pulling the tranny with the engine, you will need to find a strong bolt at the front and rear of the head. There may be a threaded hole already there, so you just need to get the bolt. But if not, then find a bolt that is strong, unscrew it, put the chain on, then put the bolt back in.
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe I have a bracket on the front of mine which holds nothing. It's got a hole in it that is only (was only) holding the plug wires out of the way. Maybe that could be used? Dunno if it's stock or not. [
