ignition is a good idea as well (thats something i still need to do!). Once you let your stock block breath a little better, leave performance for the time being and do that suspension...get a nice tight body going with new springs, shocks, bushings all around, then start to build the performance to match.

Exactly. Your fist order of business is to make that mustang safe. Now what does that entail?

do you really need a roll bar if your not gonna race it
do you really need a roll bar if your not gonna race it
And to answer soaring...a better brake system (@ least front disc) and an updated mstr. cyl. are always good ideas. Also, just for safetys sake, pull the carpet up and check the floorpans for cracks or rusted out holes. you don't want to step on it one day and literally step through your floor!
Another good mod after you get your suspension and exhaust and what not is to go into that 8" and strengthen it up with a reinforced pumpkin and a new gear set. You can find complete third members anywhere from 500-all the way up to $1000 bucks depending on what you get. Go with some 3.55's and get a limited-slip carrier and enjoy new neck breaking off the line performance that will smoke both tires [8D]
