you mentioned rag joints..... so i had to talk about them. To answer your question...... Just contact the damn company. I am thinking, there must be a way to remove the column, without taking out the steering box, because you'll have to remove the box from the column no matter what. So it does disconnect somewhere. Where's my shop manual...........

Logan, what else did you have to buy besides the tilt steering column?

Did you also had to buy the shaft installation kit?

What's the diference between long and short installation saft?

Did you get the stainless steel or the paintable one?

Did it really give you an easier entrance by having the tilt option?

How you like it, happy, ok, or overrated?

Please tell me everything about it before I buy one from Mustang Plus, which by the way my store of choice.

Thanks!

Hector

Soaring...at a recent car show i saw the aftermarket column set-up i think you are talking about....the guy said he used a peice of double D bar and welded it to the shaft after he had cut the shaft off with a cut off wheel @2 inches from the steering box i know it sounds like it would look like a baling wire job, but he did a very good job and i have thought of doing the same thing to our 65 as i am 6-3 and 250...the guy that did this to his was 6-5 and a pencil.....he used a flaming river tilt wheel with a double u joint.....hope this helps.....don

I may have found the answer. K.A.R. appears to have one where you use the original column, and it attaches on the inside of the car. See what you guys think.
