so i found that i have a vacuum leak in my intake manifold gasket so i'm going to replace the gasket... when i do replace it all i need to do is put the gasket in and tighten the bolds or do i need any silicone

You need blue ATV on all four corners. At least that is what the experts say. I prefer Permatex Ultra Black.

What engine?

Generally, it isn't a good idea to use the end pieces provided with the gasket kit. Run a bead of silicone instead. As for on the heads, it depends on your gaskets. Generally, if your heads are pitted around the water ports, some silicone may be necessary.
