Default 1965 mustang vert

Ive got a chance to buy a 65 mustang vert. Its a 289 thats got a c 4. The car is in nice shape but it has no title. They only want 1500 for the car. How do i go about buying it with no title? Is there any way to get a title for it?

Yeah, take the VIN off the inner fender under the hood, and take that VIN to the DMV. Tell them you lost the title, and they will research to make sure the car isn't stolen, etc. then issue you a new title. It would be easier for the owner to do it before you buy it, but with a bill of Sale you may be OK. Check with the DMV before you buy the car. Sounds like a steal (no pun intended)

If the vehicle was titled in Indiana then you need a title transfer other wise you need to start with a VIN Search done by the local (or State) Police. The link below should tell you all you need to know to get started, but, the story varies slightly when you actually show uo at the BMV. They seem to vary the interpretation slightly. When I got mine done the BMV told me I didn't need the VIN search, but the fact that I had it seemed to put them at ease even though I had the Bill of sale and everything. One thing is clear. You need to know before you buy the car what the title status is and it is a lot easier for the current owner to obtain the title then transfer it to you (at least in Indiana).
