Default RE: intake manifold removal

It sounds as if you didn't read the tech article I posted. Here is the meat of what you are asking.
GASKET SURFACE PREPARATION

CAUTION: Always use new gaskets as recommend. Check with gasket manufacturer for compatibility with aluminum intake manifolds. We recommend Fel-Pro Printoseal gaskets instead of Permatorque.

Check gaskets on head surface and manifold to make sure they are correct. Beaded side faces up.
NOTE: In some cases there may be a right and left side gasket difference. Be sure they are placed correctly.

Coat head surface and both side of O.E.M. gaskets with Edelbrock Gasgacinch #9300. For aftermarket gaskets, follow gasket manufacturer's instructions. See Figure 7.
Figure 7

Apply RTV gasket silicone sealer around water passages
on head surface. See figure 8.
Figure 8

Within a few minutes gaskets and surface will become tacky to the touch. Carefully place gaskets on head surface, aligning ports and bolt holes.

With Edelbrock manifolds, we suggest using RTV silicone sealant instead of end seal gaskets. Apply a 1/4" thick ribbon of sealant across each end seal surface. See Figure 9.
Figure 9

MANIFOLD SURFACE PREPARATION

Apply Edelbrock Gasgacinch #9300 to port surface of the manifold. See Figure 10. Let it become tacky.
Figure 10

Apply RTV silicone sealer on the manifold around all water pasages. See figure 11.
Figure 11

MANIFOLD INSTALLATION

Carefully position manifold on engine, centering bolt holes with bolt holes in head.
NOTE: On some Ford and Pontiac manifolds, study manifold instruction sheet for special instructions.

Refer to manifold instruction sheet for placement of any special bolts furnished with your manifold.
Apply RTV or teflon tape to bolt threads, where exposed to water or oil.
Start all bolts by hand. Refer to individual manifold instructions for torque sequence.

If you plan on getting a college degree, your head is going to be hurting like a sumbitch.

Blow compressed air down the heater hose barb on the manifold to help move coolant down out of the manifold prior to removing it.
Use a thin layer of RTV on the port gaskets. Throw the cork end seals in the trash and use a thick bead on the end rails. I use adheision promoter also, GE ss4004 I think thats the #
