Not all will agree and I'll more than likely get some flack over the suggestion, but if you are only going to do one, do the export brace first as it provides direct tower suport. I really recommend doing both the export brace, additional firewall brace (helps support where the export brace attaches to the firewall) in addition to the Monte Carlo Bar. The results I got with mine were really great. I have also subsequently have added the 1 inch sway bar to the front and hope to do the rear on next years mods.
The factory brace I now have in there is secondary to the MC as far as front end support is concerned.
Hey Soaring, I also installed a curved monte carlo brace myself, the reason I did this is because when my old original brakes were replaced by power disc brakes, the new power booster was too large to fit under the right export brace, so that came off, now my car has only the monte carlo bar, and the left hand export brace.

Is this good enough, or is it essential to have the export brace on the right side despite the addition of the monte carlo bar?

...and if not, what can I do about it?

Keep in mind my car is 64 1/2, so it's the little fellow we are talking about here, small engine compartment.
Not sure what to tell you. You might scratch your head enough to figure out a way to manufacture a brace from the shock tower to the cowl. Maybe a curved one that will go around the brake booster?

well i just got my MC bar 2 days ago and i just started to put it on today but the damn thing wont fit right. its a LITTLE tight! i think im going to bend to mounting part a little bit to get it to slip in! is this a bad idea.
p.s. I bought it from mustangplus.

I already have the 1" and 3/4" sway bars, Monte Carlo Bar, and Export Brace and I am content with their performance...though before too long I am going to 1 1/8" and 7/8" swaybars, subframe connectors, and a racing-style cross member that ties into the lower control arm brackets(I think "overkill" is the term that refers to me). I will basically have a racing suspension with the exception of the lowering springs...it'll be interesting to see how much I can improve the handling over what it already is.

Thanks Soaring, perhaps a welding shop can fix me up with something in that nature.

That looks like overkill Eric, but I'm with you, that will definitely stiffen up that front end.

Unless I was racing my car I don't think I could feel any difference over what I have now. I think the big difference in my car is the steering package (GT). It is not a GT but you could order the steering package on any Stang. It included the quicker steering box, larger sway bar and springs. I did not know it was on my car untill I saw I had the quicker steering box and started doing some research. Also I just did 700 bucks worth of work to the front end. Tie rods ends etc. The car drives better than my old '59 MG with a racing engine. I think I will leave well enough alone.
