Default question on heads on ebay

Hi all!
I need a new head on my car because I found an intake bolt broke off in one of my heads. I tried to get it out and could not. I am looking at these heads on ebay. C5AE-B. What does the code mean? If they will fit my stock C code do they look worth buying for the money?

Well, the C is the 60's decade, the 5 indicates the year of 1965 and the A indicates which car it was placed in. The A indicates a Galaxie. If it were a Z then it would indicate Mustang. and the E is just engine engineering. Now, I can't find that casting number in the Ford database, so it could be that the number is not correct. At any rate, if those heads fit your 289, then for semi-stock heads that is a good price. I don't like buying anything like this on Ebay, but you might ask the seller a question about just what those heads came off of.

If you're gong to pull the head off anyway, why not take it to a machine shop to extract the bolt. I don't think you wnat to put a different head on your car unless you replace both. If that head performs different from the other side you may harm the engine. Just my .02 cents. Anybody else have ideas along the same line?

Yeah, you wouldn't want to only put one head on, but the Ebay ad is for a pair. Dang kid, send you to school, buy you books, and you still can't read.

I completely understand about the dial-up thing. It must take you a week to post on here with all the shots of cars and signature pics and such.

Thx for the reply guys. The heads I have on now are not the original ones. I would install the pair because if I didn't one side would produce more power and I would go around in circles.

I have the heads off of an 83 5.0 ho that should fit your mustang. I will let go of them really cheap. I will even get casting numbers if neccessary.
