Default 65 Voltage Unit Removal?

Can someone please help me with how to remove the constant voltage unit on the back of the instrument panel in a 65 mustang. I know that you have to remove the panel but do not know how to remove the panel. I removed the screws that go into the dash but cannot pull the panel out. Is it the speedometer cabel that is keeping it in the dash? If so how do I remove it without causing too much trouble.

The reason I want to remove the unit is because my fuel gauge does not work and I have read all the forums on here about how the voltage unit can control the fuel gauge. Thanks for any help.

Yes it is the speedo cable. Reach under your dash, and up through the maze of wires until you find a thick that runs up to the panel. Follow it up and you'll find a nut that has grooves cut in it for gripping. Unscrew it from the dash panel, and your done. Putting it back is the same, except you'll have to line up the cable end with the slot in the speedometer gear. You'll know what I mean once you pull it out.
