Default Painting new sheet metal

I am about to start replacing much of the sheet metal on my 68. I am replacing the inner fender apron under the battery and replacing the floor boards. I have never done this before, so I will need a lot of luck.

My question is; how should I paint these panels? I was thinking about using a self etching primer from Eastwood and then covering it with Eastwood’s Chassis Black paint, but the Chassis Black paint warns that it is not recommended for use over the Self Etching Primer.

Some of the Ford Plants used Red Oxide on those panels. Then you can paint them with any paint you want, or just leave them red.

To avoid recurring problems under the battery I would use Por-15 first. Very chemical resistant. Good for the underbody as well. just 2 coats of por-15 and top coat.
