Default 1965 information

I was digging around on the internet, and found this. I guess 1965 was the experimental year, because of all the changes and options that took place. I found it interesting that my Palomino interior color was replaced in the latter part of the 65 production year with the lighter parchment color. Good info for us 65 owners.

Default RE: 1965 information

A good way to quickly tell an early 1965 Mustang from a later 1965 Mustang is to look at the hood, the early hoods had a beveled edge on the front corner edge, the grill was also beveled.
False. The hoods on cars from the first production Mustang mid to late April 1964 did NOT HAVE A BEVELED EDGE on the front corner. The cars from mid to late April 1964 until as late as September 1964 did have a beveled edge. There were also structural differences in the bracing under the hoods that identify them as well.

In early production there were 3 engine choices, the 170 6 cylinder, 260 6 cylinder, and the 289 8 cylinder.
The 260 was a V8, not a 6. Also, the 289 K-code engine was added in early June of '64. A truly unique and special early Mustang, besides an Indy 500 Pace Car, would be an early K-code car with a generator!

Cool Pace Car - I grew up in Indiana and was used to seeing the '69 Camaro and '70 Challenger Pace Cars around town but I don't remember seeing the Mustang Pace Cars...
