Default Added to the stable !

I got lucky again! Found this '65 fastback 289 "C" code C4 trans and bought it on the spot. It has been repainted a long while back but still passes the 5 foot inspection, originally it was Wimbledon White. My wife immediately snagged it for her to drive. Now I have to do some safety upgrades before I let her toodle about town in it.

Paid 6K for it. I've been driving it all over the neighborhood with the windows down and freezing myself in the process but having a ball... I figure first things first, it won't be a race car but rather a reliable driver with some upgrades. I need it to be safe for her but also need to make sure every dollar spent is done wisely so as to save other funds to restore a couple of other cars too.

Disc brakes in front (manual) - probably leave the drums in the rear
Mustang's Plus suspension kit (4.5 leaf with mid-eye spring & 620 coils)
Vintage 40 wheels and tires (15x7 but not sure what size tires yet - I want all 4 tires the same size though)
Headers - either Patriot or Hedman shorties - perhaps tri-y's and the Magnaflow full exhaust that has been discussed in earlier posts (I'll go with whatever header fits best - hopefully others will chime in and let me know what worked best for them.

What else do you think it needs?

Eventually will be looking to build up a mild performance 302/331 motor to replace the stock 289 - maybe...

I know, worried me too at first, but he had the original paper trail and all - had it for nearly the last 20 something years in his garage and drove it once in a blue moon. I don't think he knew what he had and considered the fastback to be the same value as a coupe from what he had seen in the newspaper. I heard about it from a friend of mine who has had his eye on it for the last couple of years and just couldn't scrape up the funds so he kept quiet about it until last week. Luckily he called me up and spilled the beans about it. (On another note - I found a '70 302 Boss, all original except for the slotted mags and flat tires it is sitting on. Been that way for a long time underneath a leanto on the side of a building. I chatted with the owner's brother and of course he said "Yep, it's a Boss and nope, he's not selling... saving it for his kids..." Darn! I'll keep at him though - you never know. The first time I saw it I got as close as the passenger window and wiped off a huge layer of dust and saw the Hurst shifter and console but then almost gotten eaten by a Rottie. Haven't been that scared in a very long time...

This one was not the friendly kind, I could see that right away - I've been around animals my whole life as my dad ran a nature science museum so we were always caring for exotic & weird stuff. This dog didn't see me but he could smell me - I stayed perfectly still but he kept creeping forward knowing something was there but just couldn't figure it out. Luckily there was a noise on the other side of the property that he heard and took off at full speed to go see what it was... I practically flew over everthing in my path on the way back to my car.

good score. I never have that kind of luck. Do you guys remember the two fastbacks that were bought for 10K? I remember the post last year. He posted a video of a nice burn out.
