Default Smeding Performance

I was going to get a 351 Windsor rebuilt/stroked to a 392/408 from a engine shop in town here. It included an Eagle 4340 kit, ATI damper, roller cam and lifters, Edelbroch performer heads and performer intake, total seal rings. They quoted me $9800.00 and I'd have to include a used roller block. Yea, no carb, oil pan etc.. Seemed way high for me cuz I was on the net and noticed Smeding Performance is selling a long block 427 street fighter for $7500.00 which includes a new ford sportsman II block and cast steel crank etc. I'm from Alberta so the $9800.00 is in Canadian funds and the 427 is in US funds which equates to about $8620.00. Freight would be about $400.00 so total cost is around $9000.00 Canadian. Seems like a pretty good deal to me but I don't know a bunch about Smeding Performance except from their ads in the Mustang mags. Anyone out there have anything good, bad or otherwise to say about these guys??
Thanks

There are a lot of good, reliable engine builders in Canada. Is there any race tracks in your area? If there is I would go and talk to some of the racing guys (talk to the older ones). They will point you in the right direction. I'm from the Windsor area and must be a dozen in the city alone, not to mention the ones out in the county. The racing comunity weeds out the bad ones from the good ones and the guys are usually easy to talk too.

Smeding is ok but expensive try this link you can get a 418 which actully will have more power and torque than the 427 for $5,500
