hello im new to this forum and i just got in my possesion my wifes 67 mustang she drove in high school about 15 years ago. wich needs to be restored we plan on starting this next year. butt my question is where is the vin# at on this car its not on the dash where every other car is can someone help me out here thanks in advance.

there is a warranty tag on the drivers door below the latch and the vin is stamped on the drivers side fender apron the later being the one dmv will use

my 67 had the vin on both passenger and driver fender aprons.... is that odd? (sry dont mean to hijack)

there seems to be a hidden VIN on the passenger side apron for 65s.

my 70 seemed to have them on both sides exposed.

Shelbys were even weirder. The 65-66 models lack the door plate, and have one riveted over the Ford stamped one on the left rear of the underhood area. The Shelby VIN is also stamped in the right rear of the underhood area. These start with SFM follwed by either 5 or 6 then R or S follwed by a 3 or 4 digit unit number. Mine was SFM6S2050 for Shelby Ford Mustang 6 1966 Street 2050 #2050. The letter following the year was either R for race or S for street. If you don't think he was serious, the very first Shelby was SFM5R001.
