I'm sure if you had the C4 professionally built to withstand the power put out by the winsor then it will last and work well for you. But if you're going to do all that just get a FMX transmission, which is what 351's came with. They are strong, and from what i hear nearly invincible in a sense (but i beleive they're heavy).

+1 A well built C4 can withstand a 351. A C6 won't break a sweat. The FMX is good, but doesn't have the aftermarket support like the C4/C6.

There is a trans specialist here in Parker, CO (Neil is his name) that has a Ford drag car with a 390 and a C4 and the car pulls the wheels. Don't know what he does to the C4 but he said he ran on the same transmission all last year. Knows his stuff, I'll have him rebuild my C4 when it needs it.

Oh yeah I forgot about the aftermarket part. So if you plan to mod your C4 along with a strong build to hand the 351, then thatd be a good choice since so much stuff is made for the C4. When and if I want say a shift kit in my FMX, i'm giong to have to spend some time looking....

if u run a stock c4 it will last a little while depends on how hard you run it. i had c4 in front of my cleve I tore 3 apart in about a month and a half i could literally hear them blow apart i finally built one and didnt have anymore problems out of it

Dont what to steal the thread, but what would you guys advise for me. My next item will probably be a tranny. I have a 67 351w, which will slowly get modded, and i want a automatic tranny, perferably AOD...

Just a 351 wont hurt a C4, if its built, you are doing burnouts, and hard launches with a stiff converter, then yes it would be a good idea to have some hard parts upgraded. A good stock rebuild will take alot more abuse than most people thnk.

As for an AOD, buy one, rebuild one, or find one in a junkyard and have it rebuilt, whatever works. Just make absolutely sure the TV cable is connected properly and adjusted correctly. Otherwise you have junk in a matter of minutes.

If you don't mind the controller, go for a 4r70w or AODE (in that order). They're stronger and the computer control gives you a lot of flexibility. Plus, no TV cable to play with.
