RE: A New Poll!
its fiberglass do you even need anything to hold it up. i like my stock hood on the grande I have but I do want to get the one with the air holes in it. I think it just looks cooler even if it doesnt do anything.

hey I resurected this thread, but had an additional question.
Dodgestang I noticed you said you had a steel frame and still got bowing, and this is the one I'm probably going to get.

It would seem as though this hood has much more metal than yours.
Does anyone think that the light tension spings will still do damage to this hood?

I have yet to have any problems with my fiberglass hood. I would say it depends on where you buy your hood from. I would NEVER get anything glass unless it has both a finished outter, but more importantly, a finished underside. Mine has all the reinforcement that the stock hood has from the underside, only its all layed up in fiberglass (and finished). I have the low tension springs and have yet to have any warping or post-body fitment issues. The thing with glass hoods is you just have to be gentle with them!. Open from the center, and don't slam um....and ALWAYS use the safety latch from the stock hood setup.

One of the things I don't like about my Mach is the prop up rod to keep the hood open. But, I guess the Ford engineers knew what they were doing. That would be your ceapest and probably safest bet to keep the hood from twisting.
