Default A New Poll!

Been debating this one for a while regarding the Shelby fiberglass hood -

How would you prefer to suspend the hood when it's open?

Prop rods get in the way when wrenching. And the idea of the hood come screaming down on you because the rod didn't get in the right spot is no fun.

You would need a piece of rebar to hold up a mustang hood!

its a fiberglass hood so no rebar would not be needed...does anyone use the low tension spring seems like you have to be fragile with the fiberglass

What kind of bracing do those come with? The tension springs are pretty strong. You may have a problem with flex if you don't close it from the center.

Yes. I have never even seen a fiberglass hood! On my volkswagen, for instance, there is literally no bracing so when I close it from one side as apposed to the center if flexes. And that's not a large hood. I am wondering if a fiberglass hood is the same or is it strenthened to work with the factory hood springs.

nope its the same you have to be careful with them. i dont know why they dont barce them. i even got hood pins for mine so i dont have to use the stock hood latch for fear of it twisting and cracking. they are so much lighter though

here is my hood

So its just a big a**ed piece of fiberglass? I assume there is at least some bracing or extra fiberglass where the hinges and hood latch secure? So the factory tension springs might not be a good idea in that instance.
