Default need brake light advice

my left brake light does not function. both rear park lights work and both the left and right turn signals work fine - its just that the rear brake light will not come on when i mash the pedal. i have changed bulbs and swapped bulbs...so that's not the problem. could it be the switch on the pedal or is it the wiring?

Time to grab the test light and start tracing wires.

If the right light works it would not be the pedal switch etc. There is probably a jumper from the right to left side that is bad. Like the otthers mentioned grab a meter or test light and check the socket itself, could have some rust in there losing the connection.
