Default brake light problem solved - update

my left turn signal would notclick off after a turn so i decided to change the turn signal cam. i ordered one from mustangs unlimited. when i put the new ts cam in, it did not fitproperly so i had to do a little trimming. i finally got it in and everything worked fine - for a short time. i soon discovered that i had no left brake light. i went back in and tested everything. i called my local supplier and she said that the aftermarket cams never fit and although she sold them, would advise me to buy the whole turn signal - horn wiring harness. $75. i really had no choice as i had played with the new - old cam for over two days, trying to adjust it. i could get it working for a little while but it would always revert to its old tricks.

i put in the new wiring harness and hooked it up - took about 45 minutes - and everything works fine.

i know some of you will tell me i did not need the new harness - but believe me - i tried everything else and it just wouldn't work. if i ever have the same problem, i won't mess with putting in a cam, i will replace everything again.

I went through the same thing. I thought that just replacing the turnsignal cam would fix it, but I just couldnt get it to fit right either, and when i finally did, it still didnt work. I just spent the 75 bucks for a new one and it was well worth it. I totally agree, dont waste time with the little parts in it, just get the whole new turn signal!

RESOLVED - OLD CAR ELECTRICAL GREMLINS AND FEW SIMPLE PARTS - Stop lamp switch, hazards relay, few grounding concern,s poor connections. Old post, but experiencing a related problem on a 72 Mach 1 351C-2V. My hazards remain on, not blinking. At the same time I have NO brake lights EVER. Looked underneath one wire goes to wire bundle (assuming to fuse) and second goes the relay mentioned by restomod66 posting. Anyone believe the brake lights could also not be functioning because of this relay? I did have a number of shorts, burnt out bulbs throughout the car when I bought it but thought i have addressed those issues. Haven't picked up a wiring diagram yet as have only had the car two weeks. Appreciate any thoughts/insight..
