Front wheel hub removal
How on earth do you get the wheel hub off the drum? I'm wanting to replace the old drum with a new one, they don't come with the HUB so I must use my old ones. I've pounded on the old one to get it off to no avail. Is there a trick to this or has anyone tried it? Please help.

sounds like you took off the hub and the drum at the same time.???? Put the hub/drum back on the car and put the nut back on. Now take a dead blow hammer (plastic) and hit the back of the drum while turning the drum. Whats happened is that the pads have put a grove/ edge on the inside of the drum so you have to try getting the pads to get over the edge. Also you can try backing off the pads using the adjusting screw at the bottom...
I agree with 68 Fastback with an added comment or two. I would use the adjusting wheel-accessed throught he backing plate (back of drum)-to bring the shoes in away from the drum if at all possible before I started using the hammer to persuade the drum off. Second, while mine didn't have them, you may have some metal washer like discs on the studs that hold the drum on. They are calledTinnerman nuts. Obviously, if those are still on the studs, the drums aren't coming off. And,the easiest wayto get the drum off the hub is with it all stillattached to the spindle, IMO.
