Default Heater box rebuild help

I picked up a used heater box off of ebay because that the 66 cp I just bought didn't come with one. Problem is the thing is in pieces and I have no idea what parts I'm missing (if any), or how it all goes together. Does anyone have any diagrams or links to diagrams that show a complete heater assembly for a 66 coupe? Maybe any tips on restoring the heat? Thanks.

Order a heater box rebuild kit from one of the big mail order mustang vendors. The one below is about 10 bucks from Texas Mustang. It will come with all the new seals and foam liners, and should have instructions on how to install. That's probably about as close as you're going to get to detailed instructions. I looked in my 66 shop manual but there was no illustrated parts breakdown.

Be sure and change out your heater core and hoses while installing. The core is about 20 at Autozone.

It looks like you have all the major parts except the retaining clips. there are about 10 of them. If you look on the box seam you will see little indentations thats where the retaining clips fit. youll need those.

You also need the plenum chamber dillyo thingy it attaches to the driver side of the heater box it has connections for the defrosters and also directs heat to the floor if your not using the defrosters, its about 10 bucks and made of plastic. the original one was made of cardboard and has long since evaporated. You might need the flexible ducts to go with it.

Download the catalog from National Parts Depot (www.npdlink.com) and look on page 136 for a nice diagram of the heat, defrost and vent system of the 65-66 Mustang. You can order whatever you're missing.
