it might be cheaper to get one and do it urself and that way u know what is done to it and u know that its done right. the drilling of the coolant passages is the main part. i believe they make a tool for alignment of that.

alignment tool = gaskets. and to drill the heads out it HAS to be done on a drill press or the hole will never be perfectly round and it will most certainly leak. any decent machine shop should be able to hook you up while they rebuild your heads.

which heads are you planning on using for this if you built it yourself? 2bbl cleve heads are plentiful but even with flat top pistons your compression will be loooowwwwww

Yeah, the block isa piece of cake...used a hand drill for those 6 holes. The heads are another story.

Now you are...if don't use the head gasket as a pattern on the block for the six holes, overheating will result. C blocks have them to match the heads.

so a C gasket on the W block and these holes are between the cylinders im guessing?

i thought the point was to make the cleve head have the same holes as the W heads thus meaning no block work? im confused now lol - any pics of what needs to be done?

Yes on the locations...can't find my pics which are not even digital from back then.
Am I the only one on this forum with C heads on a W block? Just curious...
BTW my CR is 10:1 in answer to someone who said it would be way low, and I had to dish my pistons to get that.

yours is 10:1 cause you have a 351w which is fine. on a 302 the compression would be lower.

i would like to see the pics, what did you use for an intake?

I had a set of 351C heads installed on my 1969 302 block about 20 years ago. The heads & gaskets came from PAW and the intake from B&A Performance (no longer around). I screwed up and bought open chamber 4barrel Cleveland heads and had to have a set of custom pop-up pistons made by Arias Pistons (not a problem if closed chamber heads are used). A couple of holes had to be drilled in the heads to open water passages. The gaskets came with a template for the holes. The car has been in storage for about 15 years and I just rolled it out of the garage yesterday. I can't remember all the details on this setup but could maybe dig around for some if more info is needed. Check out this link:
