Default boss 302 clone

has anyone ever built this motor, a windsor style 302 block with cleve heads
i read that with just the cleve heads they make 400 hp
was wondering if this is true and how easy it would be to build

There's more to it than just sticking Cleveland heads on a Winsor block. The water passages have to be modified in the heads and I think intake. It's nota simplemod.... or there'd be a bunch of people doing it!

its not that hard you just need the info to make it possible. one thing i remember is on the deck surface of the heads there is a square water port on the cleve's that needs to be drilled to a 1" hole and a freeze plug installed... you'll need an intake from a boss - there was a company making aftermarket ones but i forget the name. honestly the cleveland 4bbl heads are too much for a 302, and the cleve 2bbl heads have HUGE chambers which just kills compression unless your running forced induction.

solution? australian cleveland heads have 2bbl ports and 4bbl chambers which makes for best streetability on a 302 OR you can build a 351w (or 351w based stroker) and use this http://www.pricemotorsport.com/html/...apter_kit.html
along with a boss 302 / aftermarket intake and the clevey 4bbl heads

4v or 2v takes the same effort on a 302 or 351 or 377 in my case. Ford motorsport had how to directions. Back when this mod started in the aftermarket, say 10+ years ago, it was the bomb because the there weren't very many aftermarket heads for the small blocks and the C heads flowed pretty good. Nowadays, you have many aluminum heads to choose from, so do so is my advice...
