thats fine as long as it takes the bendix out a bit you will be fine
Yeah, I was havinga b of a time getting the rear bolt found, let alone out, cause of it. I had to unscrew the shim (it screws to the bellhousing) and than twist it out of place and even at that, I had lots of trouble. It's hotter than hell out today so I'm going to crawl back under when I go home, crank her back out and put the shim back in. The hard part is done, breaking the front bolt was a royal PITA. I sprayed it every day for a week with PB Blaster and I still had no room. I had to place a wrench on it and"punch" it with the open end of a 1 1/2 inch wrench.
Yeah, GM loves shimmable starters. Right now the gear on the starter is too close and is hitting the flywheel/ flexplate. For what it is worth, GM doesn't use a bendix drive starter. Good luck.
Yeah, right now I don't give a **** cause the damn thing is falling apart. I feel like I have hydrolics in my car now (had a flat the other day, just took the donut off and put the tire back on). Damn thing is bouncing from side to side in the front. things worse than my 40 year old stang!
Tomorrow I'm gonna take it off and shim it. Next, suspension. []
