0-60?
should be faster than that as long as u can hook up but if ur blown i would think the 525 wpuld be too small basically gotta figure the super is making the enigine larger in a sense id think ud want something in the 700cfm range but idk for sure 525 would be really good for a n/a motor
3k and I'm only at 60mph.[&:][sm=burnout.gif] 'course, I can get to 60 is about 5 seconds...at 5280 feet.
Assuming my tires aren't spinning. If they are, it only takes a second.
For the original poster, you should be in the 7's. That 4-barrel intake and carb will make quite a difference.

There is an easy way to gete the info you want without going to a track. Ever heard of Gtech?

I been messin with large V8s and LS1s for so long, I forgot that most people would kill to run a 6 second 0-60. Things change in your mind when you can cover 60 ft (roughly the length of a semi truck&trailer) in 1.5 seconds or less. But anyway to find that stuff out you usually need a track. There arent many open right now, and at some around the country you will wait 3 hours to get one pass because of all the 19 second hondas with wings and fart cans.
So spend the $200 or so you need to get one, and set it up in the car. They are close to what you would get at a dragstrip, it can only add good info to the bench racing..
Bench racing is fun!
If you decide to swap the cams, dont forget the valvesprings, locks and retainers. A set of roller rockers is a worthwhile investment too. With a cam you better have headers and free flowing exhuast, at least 2.5" with your engine.
The 525 with a paxton blow through would be about right. A Roots supercharger can use a larger carb because it sits on top of the blower. A blow through system is limited by how much fuel the carb can flow. Too big of a carb and you wont have enough fuel for the air getting in, so default to a smaller carb for a blow through system. Have been considering a blow through for a 400 in my 71 Formula, I was thinking a top end/landspeed type ride and a blower would make some nice torque for the 2.41 gears I have for it..
One of the Pontiac gurus I know in Florida sells kits and has been doing the R&D on them for the past ten years. Its nice to keep it all under the hood and make stupid power.. Stupid power is best..

thanks for all the responces guys, I really appreciate it!the only thing i worry about when talking gears is the stang is my one and only car and i get on the freeway (tollroad) to go half the places i go, and ive heard dontbother with 355s, ill jsut wanna upgrade to 380s. but then i heard i would be topping out at 80 mph!!! so that has me worried, butsounds like im gunna need to buy a gtech and some gears (and hopefully camshaft!!) gunna take it out next weekend or the weekend after and try some times.
I started with a low 8 second 0-60 time when stock (at 3000 feet of altitude).
It's what I don't have. I reduced a lot of weight in my car. There's no heater box, no insulation, thinner quarter panels, etc. I should be under 3k pounds, but won't be weighing it for sure until this spring when it goes back together. I'm finally ditching the factory exhaust headers and going for something 'better.' I hope it does help.
You'll probably notice a trend. I spent time learning how to launch my cars and get them off the line. I was able to keep up with my friend's '73 (351C, single-plane intake, 55x lift cam, 3.89:1 LSD 9", built auto) up to about 70mph after outlaunching him (neither of us spun). That, my friend, is great for street races and getting some real good 0-60 times.
I also spent a lot of time studying how the engine would react at shift points and what kind of flow I needed and how to get the flow where it needs to go (flow = intake and exhaust).

Gears and more power isn't going to do squat for your 0-60 times if you sit in the hole and spin. Putting as much rubberon the asphalt as you can, and having the rear suspension set up to grab should be your first upgrade concern. Then start adding gears and more engine. The 4 barrel and intake will add about 25 ponies to your engine output.
