Tires?
I'm satisfied with my Dayton tires. They are soft enough that I can get a little heavy footed in corners and still hard enough for me to smoke'em if needed.
I am not a big fan of Firestone after the tire issues from 99'. We had an Explorer that had a set of the bad tires and when we contacted Firestone, they just said too bad. Even the dealership we got the truck from replaced the tires free of charge becuase the side walls were splitting.
I'm sure all of that is corrected by now, but I still have that sour taste from dealing with them directly. I'd of even met them half way to replace them,. but they basicaly shut the door on me so now I'll never purchase a damn thing from them.

+1 on the BFG RTA's 215/70/14 on my 67. Prob not the best size for performance applications, but looks good on the car and handles well for me. Also, at about $85 each, good bang for the buck.
I just can't seem to get my arms around tthe idea of Pirelli, Yokohama (?) or Toyo etc. tires on a classic Made in the Good 'Ol USA Classic. Just doesn't seam natural to me.Buy USA. I know its not possible in all situations, but there are certainly qualityUS made tires out there that will suit your needs. Sorry for the rant, just my little hangup.
Good luck.

BFG RADIAL T/A'S ARE NOT SPEED RATED ABOVE 112. Neither is the cooper cobra or the goodyear GTII. If you plan on racing and there is even a remote chance of you going over 112, youll need AT LEAST an H rated tire. H is good till 129 (unless they changed the ratings again[:@]). Personally, I wont run anything lower than a Z UNLIMITED or sub class of Z (W,Y). But hey its your ***, if you trust your tires to hold up at speeds theyre not rated to go, itll be your own damn fault when they blow and you wreck.

I don't think I'll be traveling at speeds of 112 mph in my old classic. No need for it to get loose and put her into a wall!! It is a cruisen mobile that enjoys a little squeaking of the tires at times!!

Anyone else see the humor in this post?[sm=laughat.gif]

I've always gotten a kick about this whole tire ordeal. The problem wasn't entirely the tires, it was primarily the idiotic and/or lazy auto owner that had much better things to do than check their tire pressure every once in a while.

I'm running Sumitomo HTRZ II's all around and I think they are great so far. Not a whole lot of miles on them though. They are pretty inexpensive also, I think I paid $90 each. Go to www.tirerack.com and look at the tire you want. They have a lot of info about each tire and what they are made for. There are also customer reviews/comments.
