I am looking at a 1966 mustang convertible with a inline 6. I have read about a Sprint option that was available. The car does not have the original motor. How can I tell if this car was originally a Sprint 200?

 

You can't. It is not in the VIN. The Sprints had a center console, chrome air cleaner and chrome wire wheel covers.

 

Back in the good days LOTS of the available options were added on at the dealership and just sent with the car.

 

Are you sure it was a Mustang? I never heard of it. I had a 1966 Pontiac LeMans Sprint with an overhead cam inline 6, sport suspension and a vinyl stripe package. The engine was highly touted by the enthusiast mags. Sort of a 6-cylinder GTO.

 

Mine is a sprint. Its just some chrome parts under the hood and a console
