Boredom pays off!
Ok, so. I'm bored. I have most of the trench dug for the electric ( still have some misc stuff, but the electric company has to do that part as it's near their pole ) and I have the foundation formed up. I just need to wait on a friend to let me know so I can order the truck. He is getting a day off for a family issue but siad he'd be done by noon, so I can order the truck for the afternoon and he can help me.
Anyway - today, I'm bored stiff. I have done all of my stuff and I am about to start scaring the dogs and I say to my self - self, lets put those new elite series valve coverson the car. ( I was going to wait and do it once the shop was finished ). So, off I go. I'm operating out of a bucket more less because all of my tools are in the barn on the other 5 acres. ( sooo can't wait to get my shop finished ) I get my bucket full of tools and come back to the garage.
I start getting stuff dissasembled and the heater hose to the pump is kinda sorta in the way. I'm not a small feller, so, everything is usualy in the way. I had to tug on the hose to get the valve cover off and when I did, fluid kinda pissed out near the water pump. It was out of the corner of my eye, but I did see it. I wiggled the hose a little and nothing, gave it a good tug and tada!, a pin hole leak in the hose at the water pump. It was about 2" above the hose clamp, so it was a hole in the hose, not a worn through spot from the clamp.
It only leaked when I stretched it, but it was just a matter of time before it left me on the side of the road replacing it. Had I not been bored and decided to do those valve covers sooner than later, I'd of only found that leak after it busted the hose. There was no hint of anti-freeze, or any steamy water smell that normaly accompanys cooling system leaks, so it was just in the beginning stages.
Anywho - just thought I'd share a little good karma. It's not often I am on the recieving end of the good kind. I'm usualy the one giving it. Was nice for a change.
Oh, the valve covers look pretty dang spiffy.
Cheers.
