Default Remove lower crossmember?

I want to remove the lower cross member on my 66 fastback. (Need to remove the oil pan) I have the car up on jack stands right now. The front wheels are off the ground. Does it matter if there's no weight on the shock towers or should the car be on ramps so the front wheels have weight on them? Any tips appreciated. Thanks

you can just unbolt it. It shouldn't spread, even though my car was during driving.

Yeah man. Finally. I welded a nut to a plate with a hole in it, and welded it to the frame. It's been holding for awhile now. BTW I finally got my front end problems fixed. All new control arms, and they dont shift anymore.

No, The nut on the inside of the frame which held on one of the bolts where gone, so i couldn't bolt it up.
