Default 200 suped up

I have scratched the V8 conversion pretty much. I have heard that the 200 I6 can be made into a very powerful thing. Is this true. What needs to be done. Will the shaky 3 speed manual hold up with a new powerful 200ci? Anyone with info on the 200 and alternate tranny setups.

Thanks

I am not sure if they used the same 3-speed in the Mustang that went in the 6cyl pick ups back then, but if so it's the same one that went behind a big block. It is very strong. It has a bad 1st to second shift though because I could never find a quality shifter for a 3-speed. All long throws and loose feeling. I ended up installing a T-10 with a competition shifter.

The six cylinder 2.77 3-speed won't hold up very well to power. Go to www.fordsix.com and check out those guys. They know all the tricks for the sixes.

I had a I6 3 speed behind a strong 289 and it held up for 2 years for me and I took it working.
