Where to start?

Default Where to start?

Been working on the stang now fora few months getting quite a bit done. I am now down to the backup lights and emergency brake. Right now regardless of position, the brake light on the dash stays on. Not sure where to begin diagnosing this one. The emergency brake works, its just the light that stays on all the time.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

did you check the fluid?

Yes, that is not an issue. I recall their being a circuit somewhere in the engine bay that gets closed when you apply the brake and opened when it is off, thus causing the light to come on. Just not 100% sure.

well on my 70 i had a sensor that made the light come on when fluid was low but fluid was never low so i changed it and its fine now.

open up the guages and remove the light bulb

make sure the parking brake is fully released if not that will make it come on to.

What 70coupe said, the sensor on the master is bad. thats the cheepest answer. If that doesn't fix the problem look at the brake switch on the brake pedel. see below.
