Default 65' Ford F100

Anyone know which straight 6 Ford dropped in these little trucks? I know this is a mustang site but I removed the 200 I6 out of my FB and was wondering if the motor was the same as I technically own a F100 that I inherited a few years back.

The 223 was a popular truck I6 for many years but I don't know if they kept it going up until 65 or not.

I just stripped a couple of really neat pieces off of a 1965 1 ton. Nice cluster with gauges AND idiot lights and the wiper washer setup.

The truck is in excellent shape. 60,00 original miles. I wouldn't do I thing with the interrior. My wife's grandfather did back it into one of those cement post things at a gas station so the body isn't perfect but it is just in the rear fender and could be easily beat out. Other than that no body work, bumper, grill, mouldings, hubcaps etc. are all solid and ready for paint. The mechanical side is what may take some work. I would keep the lil I6 in it but would have to at the very least change seals and clean things up. I know the truck doesn't have 1000 miles on it in the last 25 years so I imagine alot of rubber is dry and who knows what else. Living here in Colorado things just don't rust as they sit like in most parts of the country. If I wanted the truck tonight I could go pick it up from my mother-inlaw's but I just don't have a place for it so for now the Mustang is the project and somewhere down the road I'll get the truck movin'. From a financial perspective I would have been better off fixin' the truck and waiting on the car but it is time to fix the car, 20 years is a long time to wait.

Yeah tell me about it. My first car is getting reworked after a 20 year hiatus from operational status. Here in the Upper Peninsula of Mich, its pretty dry as far as humidity. Go figure with the big lake about a mile away. I dont have any problems with flash rust here, as long as it is inside it wont rust. Now on the road its a completely different story. After the first snow and for a month after the last one, if you like the car, dont dive it. They salt here.

The truck sounds cool. I have an affinity for F100s and F150s. Wish we had trucks like that here. got any pics of it and your stang?

No, but it is time I took some. I am working on the car tomorrow so I'll take a few and post them. I can also go by the inlaws and snap a few of the truck, if I go early I may avoid any inlaw-contact 20 years too eh? Was it your very first car? what year/model is it?

A 200 cid 6 may be weak for the truck because Ford put 300 cid 6s in many 1/2 ton pickups. On my 81, I yanked the 300 and replaced with a strong 351W for even more grunt.

I'd bet its a 240 or a 300. Probably the 300. I don't know if they had the 240 yet in 65. They are the same dimensions though. The 300 is a physically big engine though.
