Depends on where you're located. I would go with a Currie setup complete if you have the funds. By the time you rebuild the used rear end, you'll have about the same amount of money in it.

I'll start this reply by saying that I am not disagreeing with or trying to contradict any of the other replys regarding 8" rears. That said, I'll just give you the opinoin of someone who has blown a few of the venerable 8 inchers with far less HP than most folks on this site sayan 8" will support. Yes, I drove the car hard on the street and I raced it with slicks. I broke two of them (with 4.62 gears) with a warmed over 302. The weak spot is not the gears, it's the housing itself. If it were mine, I'd go with a 9" with 3:50 or so gears with that tranny. Yes, the 8" will work but if you plan to use that 430 HP on a regular basis, I'd recommend a 9". Just an old hotrodder'sopinion.
And a good one at that! If you actually plant that much hp, an 8" will die soon enough.

I broke a top loader in half with my 302. Does that mean top loaders are bad? Nope. The 8" and stock driveshaft was stronger than that top loader.[&:]

The engine is rated at 430hp on Ford Racing's Website...that is not how much rear wheel hp the car will have.

Use the 8 until it breaks, then get a 9...

Currie builds great rear ends but they can be pricey. i bought my 9' with 4.11 gears, larger spline and a detroit locker for 2400

i would go with 3.80's. they dont make 3.73's for 8 inch rears. I would recommend upgrading your axles. Moser has custom alloy axles for 315 bucks.
