67 steering column Question

Default 67 steering column Question

I have a 1967 fastback s code. On the steering column there is what appears to be a vacume canister which is attached to a lever that goes into the column and also a switch which resembles a parking brake switch can any one tell me what this is? thankyou in advance.

Dude! You have a tillt column! Did you not know that? If you push the turn signal lever forward you can tilt the column up and down. The Canister is for the "tilt away". It is made so that when you open the door the column tilts away from you so you can get out easier. I just rebuilt mine so if you need some help let me know.

I have one page for the repair manual for the tilt column. It may help. The manuals are available on e-bay. If you have questions let me know. I have some experience with these.

Did you know it was a tilt or not? Some folks know about the tilt but don't know about the tilt away.
