Floor pan flange
I purchased a new driver's side floor pan (front, short pan not a full pan) and I noticed that the square flange that mates up to the outboard side of the area (opposite the tunnel) is bent down and not bent up like the original pan that I just removed. Is this flange bent down on some years and bent up on others of did I get a screw-up from the factory? I am working on a '70 fastback.
My pans were like that too, I think that's to make it easier to install, if you don't completely remove the old pans prior to installing the new ones. Or like i did, temporarily leave the lip from the old till new is tacked in.
FYI regarding short pans with flanges bent down.I called Scott Drake and the person I talked to said that the short pans are made to fit the convertible, that the pan has to have the flang turned down (for some reason I don't know) so instead of making one pan with the flange up (for fastbacks) and the other down (for convertibles) they just produce the one for the convertible that also fits the fastback. He did say that if I purchased the full pan that the flange us in the bent up position like the one that is in my car now. I think these pans are made in Canada and may be sold through outlets other than Drakes.
