no, a C is a completely different engine family/design

yes a C can actually make MORE power than a W but it'll cost you more money, and will add alot more weight up front. unless your trying to make 1000 HP i'd seriously stick with a W motor. parts are cheaper, easier to find, and they are very reliable and dependable motors.

Doesnt matter unless you are building a 600+hp monster or running a blower with more than 12 psi.. Do you plan on having a 9 second ride with this build? If so then you wouldnt be looking for a budget block. You can get very low 12s to mid 11s from a relatively stock W with aftermarket heads. If you have never driven a low 12 second car, there is a chance you may soil yourself.

Anyway.. if you want a 351, the W will fit better than the C in your car. You dont need to worry about how strong the block is unless you are going to make alot of power with high compression, high rpm, or high boost. You will lose a rod or break a piston before you break a stock block with a budget type build..

The 65-66 Stangs are like the 70-74 Mavericks under the hood. We were going to put a 351C 4V in a 71 Maverick for my dads toy.. I can assure you it is not a simple bolt it in swap. Also have a friend who is running a Farimont with a mid 70s 351W, and some ported 69W heads, he was running 12.80s and had less than $6000 in the entire car.. Just get the W and build it.

Doesn't the 351 marine engine run backwards? Seems I heard that somewhere.

Twin engines in a boat will sometimes have one running the opposite direction. Its a cam and oil pump change more than anything else. Same as on an airplane, you have engine torque wanting to turn one way and the boat or plane wanting to turn the other. So having two engines turning the opposite direction will cancel each other out.. Just like P38 fighters from WWII, the left engine rotated clockwise, the right one went counter clockwise. its also why a helocopter has to have a tail rotor..

Just having one engine in a boat doesnt require reverse rotation.. I have learned all this since dating the present GF, her dad is a boat guy who does deep sea fishing charters on Lake Superior, and he sells and repairs boats. There are more boats in my yard than cars..
