autolite carb CFM question
when I bought my 66, the guy gave me a Autolite 4 barrel carb, the id plate says "C7DF D" and underneath that in smaller letters is "B7 AA". Can anyone tell me the CFM of this carburator and how much would be a reasonable price for shop to do a re-build, thanks???? I haven't donea re-build on a carb in a couple of decades, how hard is this????? Should I considerdoing this myself, I amsomewhat competent to domost things but have never tackled this- I used to do this on my dirt bikes back in the 70's when I was a kid, but that is a long time ago
On the forwrd left hand side of the fuel bowl ther will be a number in a circle, either 1.08 or 1.12. I don't remember the exact cfm, but the 1.08 I believ is something like 480 and the 1.12 is about 600cfm. I am sure someone will provide you with the exact specs.
Oh, and rebuild it yourself with a quality kit. It is not as hard as it may seem at first. It is not difficult, just stay organized.
Good luck.

Get a quality kit i.e. motorcraft. They are available on ebay. Or call Pony Carbs and they will give you a specific kit.Check your part numbers to make sure you get the correct kit. May also wnt to consider replacing floats and choke stat.
When I did my carb, I dissassembled and used gunk carb kleen and a soft (brass) brush on the body. I then did a final rinse and blowout with brake kleen. I inserted the thin tube into the passages and blew the passages kleen. Then compressed air. I also polished the body with a dremel and wire brush attachment.
Also, if you do not have a ford shop manual, get one. They have a good step by step rebuild process, as well as complete tuning instrucions. The carb kits come with instructions, but I found that they compliment each other and used both to refer to in my rebuild. Also, tke some pictures of the choke linkage and other parts as you dissasemble for reference when re-assenmbling.
Good luck.
