PARTS2: most likely you have the single point distributor. If my memory serves me correct, the dual point was only used on the high performance engines and is actually pretty rare. The link you posted to johnsmustang actually IS the pertronix system. It looks like its priced right, and Ive heard nothing but great feedback from it.

That is correct. The dual point systems were only used on the HiPo engines.

Dear "Soaring" , my problem is : to decide if I needa device with a "single point" or "dual points" or " dual points with w/vac."

Electronic ignition systems do not have points. You are eliminating the points when you change to an electronic system. So, you needn't sweat the single point, dual points or dual points with vacuum advance. That is no longer your worry when you go with an electronic ignition system.
But it does matter when you order the conversion kit, as they will have a different dwell setting for the dual point versus the single point. I agree with the others that it is likely a single point distributor with vacuum advance, but the surest way to tell is to look at it and see if thereis one or two sets of points under the cap, and if there is a vacuum advance mechanism installed on the outside of the distributor.

I hear you guys and I think I'm begining to understand.
I usually deal with tractors parts : Jhon Deere, and this is a restoration project I'm doing for a friend,
and I realy enjoy it.
